To get straight to the point: my experience with International Mental Care was fantastic!
After a professional intake session with both the psychiatrist and psychologist, I was referred to Sandra van Bruggencate – an exceptionally skilled psychologist who truly knows what she’s doing.

In the past, I’ve had several treatments through basic mental healthcare, but those approaches didn’t help me much. This time, things were different. Thanks to the great collaboration with Sandra, I was able to overcome my issues within just one and a half months. I’m extremely grateful to her and the entire team at IMC.

I wish her all the best. And to anyone reading this who’s hesitating about starting treatment at IMC: just do it!

Oh, and by the way, the administration was perfectly handled in my case. I had zero issues, despite reading several reviews about that. So no worries there!

I have good experience with this center as an expat.
I have been in treatment with the psychiatrist and psychologist here for a year and ca stop my treatment now. They were really kind and very professional. I also received for a while treatment with a third specialist in their team. That helped me a lot. The secretary and administration was very fast in answering, and very clear and kind. Unlike other reviews, I had good experience with their administration, if I needed to change an appointment, or had a question in my bad mental state, they answered me fast and very clear. Once I had an emergency, I was in crisis, the secretary called my psychiatrist, she called me back the same day, while she was off that day. I really have felt very safe and personal approach with this center. I would recommend others to come here if you need professional help. It't not cheap, but that's normal, they are professionals and know what they are doing. Nowhere a doctor or a dentist is cheap. It's about my healthcare and that's worth to go to a good place where I feel in good hands. I can go on now with my life because of my good treatment, that means a lot to me.

UPDATE: I have ended treatment at IMC, and I am revising my review based on my complete experience there.

I think the practitioners at IMC are top notch, and while I still believe the administration could be improved, I will chalk my occasionally poor experience to a handful of misfortunes and miscommunications.

I would recommend that prospective patients, despite the remote world we live in and relative flexibility of IMC, to do most or all of their appointments in person.

Unfortunately, like other reviewers, I would advise patients, physicians, therapists, and other professionals to not work with IMC due to unacknowledged problems with their administration.

- On three occasions, prescriptions were not sent to my pharmacy (BENU) due to errors in their system. Requiring many emails and lengthy calls, from me and BENU, who themselves became exasperated with them.

- On billing, their billing service mis-delivered bills and did not automatically pay them, as I have set up with another provider (my dentist) that uses the same billing service.

- They never communicated though established channels with me (email, phone) about unpaid bills, meaning I wasn't even aware of them.

- They abruptly cancelled an appointment because of unpaid bills, without giving me more information or (as I mentioned above) using the same channels (email, phone) to notify me about the unpaid bills.

- They have not confirmed that my account is paid for a week after I sent bank transfer records showing that it was.

- They have refused to fill a prescription for a drug they prescribed to me, which has harmful withdrawal symptoms, because of 5-day renewal "policy" that has not been communicated to me, because I have always renewed in appointments, which they cancelled, again without prior notice.

- Most egregiously perhaps, they have accidentally forwarded me emails showing that they did not forward my request for renewal to a psychiatrist on call, even though they said they did. (In other words, they were deceptive about the service they are providing.)

As administrators of a health care service, they are not taking seriously the situations or implications for their patients. They are prescribing powerful psychoactive drugs and not taking their responsibility of care to their patients serious.

The physicians and therapists I worked with through IMC (Vincent and Eduardo) were excellent, and my review is solely about the administration.

All in all, I am reminded of the problems with the American health care system. Other than IMC, I have received excellent care in the Dutch health care system.

The therapy itself goes fairly useful but the miscommunication is incredibly terrible without clear information disclosure. Little did I know the intake sesh would charge me for the amount of three times higher than a regular therapy sesh. After I reflected the issue to the service, the response indicated a strong sense of passiveness and pushed all the responsibilities away on the patient instead. The admin also messed up the amount of invoice for two times in my case.

I was in a terrible condition in the winter and tried to find the help. The centre had the closest available appointment and I visited them. My first session was with the psychotherapist, who collected the anamnesis and all information about my health. After this meeting I’ve got the prescription for the treatment and list with recommendations. After 5 months we are still in touch with the doctor, he looks out for my condition.

Also every 2 weeks I have a sessions with psychologist from IMC, where we discuss my life, behaviour and reactions. It helps me a lot to solve my problems.

My insurance covers the treatment because it is a little expensive for me. I can’t compare IMC with another Mental Centres but I definitely glad that I asked for help!

I had therapy with one psychologist that was fine. However the administration is not competent. They sent this year, on July a bill of almost 1k euros saying that there was an error in the system and they didn't send a few invoices in 2022. Now they are threatening me to send the case to collectors, even though they never send the invoices at the right time. It's frustrating to communicate with them as they do not take accountability of their errors. I will never get their services again.

Dr. Ansari has been the best health care provider and psychiatrist I have met with in the Nederlands. Consultation with her has been very professional, also she was able to take care of some medication difficulties I have had for over a decade.

Would recommend her to every working international professional that is looking for high quality mental health care.
